Ubud sports bar The Melting Pot

Ubud sports bar The Melting Pot is a cavernous Bali sports bar with live AFL and NRL available on small and big screens with pool tables and a table tennis table.

This is probably the only dedicated sports bar in Ubud, and while it looks huge actually does not have so many tables and chairs, the majority of the space being taken up by the three pool tables and one table tennis table.

I dropped in on a Sunday and there were quite a few Aussies there watching a game, scattered on stools at the bar.

At the time of my visit there rear section was closed off for renovations which will increase the space. Right now it does look a little cramped so that will change soon.

It is relatively unusual to find a sports bar in Ubud which tends to attract much more the yogi and spiritual types, not the typical AFL and NRL supporters.

There are currently three large size Bali pool tables that look good with another two in the rear area, with well maintained felt along with quite good cues. There are two small tables (one in the rear) for those Aussies who prefer the smaller tables with a more tight game.

As of 2018 there is a 55k/hour charge to play pool here.

Situated right at the bottom of Jalan Hanuman in Ubud there are dozens of other Ubud restaurants and shops close by which is great for the ladies who can leave their partners in this ‘husband day-care’ knowing they are safe while they go shopping!

Sometimes they have a pool competition on which I have heard is quite good.

Bintangs are 30k so not bad also. There is a large projector screen in a darker area so even during the day the picture quality is quite good.

It is great to see a table tennis table in Ubud, and I will return one day with a friend of mine who also plays.

See their Facebook page for various events they have.

Very nice bar to play some pool. Always an empty table. Fair priced drinks.
