Ubud restaurant Café Lotus in Bali seems to have been there forever, serving really nice food in the most romantic of situations where you can eat and watch traditional Balinese dance most night from either the standard tables and chairs or from the low tables that line one side of the lotus pond.

The menu at Café Lotus is broad and includes dishes from all over the world. Some French influences, Dutch and Moroccan are present in the appetisers with some set menus that can tickle anyone’s tastebuds.

They also have a large selection of Balinese and Indonesian dishes cooked traditionally, while the salads, soups and appetisers are all yummy looking.

The pasta menu will tempt any Italianophile, while the seafood and meat choices are gorgeous.

The menu is befitting to such a grand stage as this restaurant sits upon. And what a stage it is, with the temple and stage lighting stunning, and watching a traditional Balinese dance reflected in the lotus pond is kinda surreal, and you find you’re pinching yourself that this is real.

Simply stunning. Ubud restaurant Café Lotus must be the most stunning restaurant in Ubud, maybe even the most stunning restaurant in Bali if you consider the combination of high culture and fine dining that Café Lotus provides.

A must visit for first time Ubud visitors, and reservations may be needed when it is busy, which it mostly is.

If your knees are up for it, the low tables on the side offer the best view of the dance performances.

Open every day except for major Balinese holidays.
