Ubud bar and restaurant the Round Bar

Ubud bar and restaurant the Round Bar

Ubud bar and restaurant the Round Bar cafe must be one of the funkiest Bali bars around. Obviously, it is a round bar, with very cool and even moderately comfortable bar stools made from old bicycles (see the main pic, and no, the pedals don’t turn).

I first came across Ubud bar and restaurant the Round Bar some months ago when I was driving past on my way home after a night out in Ubud.

The bar was lined with a flock (I think that is the right word – you have a gang of boys, murder of crows, I think ‘flock’ of girls is appropriate!) of very beautiful young women, much too young for me, early twenties.

They were American students on a yoga retreat inspired by Eat Pray Love, and while I fit the age demographic of Julia Robert’s lover, my accent was all wrong! I stopped for a drink and then went on my way.

This time I was also passing by on my way home to Kerobokan, in the rain, with the World Cup just started, so of course I had to stop and hang out till the rain stopped. Ubud roads are dangerous enough at night on a bike, but worse when slippery from rain.

Bali bar and restaurant the Round Bar cafe looks like it sometimes has parties, with a largish section out the back where dancing and cavorting would happen, plus some post-cavort lounging!

I love the round bar, the chairs, and while the World Cup is on, the big screen.

The Round Bar has a good looking breakfast menu with usual standards plus a cooked Yogi breakfast. There is a list of burgers, salads and pastas, again all fairly standard, and a selection of square pizzas.

So a fairly basic food selection, but it is a bar more than a restaurant. It is not often I am in Ubud at night, but when I am this is on my list of places to visit.

Cool bar in Ubud, bit out of the way, more of a bar for people staying close by. Love the concept.
