Seminyak nightclub, bar and restaurant Jenja

Seminyak nightclub, bar and restaurant Jenja bar

Seminyak nightclub, bar and restaurant Jenja

I found another favourite Bali nightclub. Seminyak nightclub, bar and restaurant Jenja which opened early 2014 and was the hottest club in Bali. Until the next great club opened!

Have you been to Seminyak nightclub and restaurant Jenja and have an experience or feeling you would like to share about Jenja, or about this review? Leave your comment and rate Bali club Jenja at the bottom of this page.

Seminyak nightclub, bar and restaurant Jenja has a very different scene to the other clubs and bars in Seminyak which I have frequented in the past.

Having been going out to these kind of places for three years I tend to recognise a few faces everywhere I go, but at Jenja I didn’t recognise anyone.

Beautifully done, Jenja is in the basement of Town Square Suites, the big new hotel complex in Jalan Nakula in Seminyak.

There is a big underground carpark from where you can feel the music pulsing through the cement, plus some street parking for bikes plus valet is parking available as well.

Architecturally- and design-wise Jenja is gorgeous, and has set a new standard for Bali nightclubs. There are some photos of Jenja at the bottom of this page which don’t do Jenja justice at all.

Jenja is not a big club, but it does has a dancefloor where you can actually move, and they must have zillions of exhaust fans because even though most people are smoking you don’t get the irritated eyes as you do elsewhere.

The bar is open, and the dancefloor has a low ceiling with lots of latest generation LED lighting so the lighting is much more precise and intimate somehow.

I really liked the music I heard on the two nights in a row I went there recently, surpassing Petitenget nightclub Mint which had previously played the best music in Bali (in my opinion of course!), finding I did not know any of the tracks they played whereas at Mint I’ve heard them all before, better mixing too.

Over the months the music quality has deteriorated, possibly a reflection of cost cutting re DJs.

Jenja restaurant, bar and club is open Wednesday and Thursday 10-2am, and Friday and Saturday nights 10pm to 5am.

There is also a restaurant, open from 4pm until 11, more of a supper club, with lots of snacks and food for sharing, along with a few fish and beef dishes. I didn’t eat there but the menu looks pretty interesting if simple.

The first night I went there was no cover charge, and drinks were the usual Bali club prices, with Bintang beer at 50k and spirits at 100k.

On succeeding nights there was a cover charge of 100k each with a drink included, which I guess is just to stop people coming and not spending any money, or having to hustle for drinks.

Recently I had a Red Label whisky as my freebie and think it was fake whisky which gave me quite a hangover. Not good. Won’t do that again.

The freebies are available only at the upstairs bar, and are quite weak, which is very poor I find. Cheap, considering how much money they make here.

Seminyak nightclub, bar and restaurant Jenja is Bali’s hottest new club and has been my first choice of clubbing destinations in Bali for a while although I find myself a bit turned off by their stinginess with the entrance drink.

Congratulations Jenja, you have done well making what was for a while Bali’s best club. Let’s see if you can keep the golden goose alive!

really nice club, but pretty crappy quality drinks, with the drink for admission cost pathetic

This establishment is homophobic and the security guards will beat you up and throw you out if you show any same-sex PDA (ie. Male-male dancing or kissing). If you are gay don't bother spending your money (250,000 entry) here at this establishment as the bouncers and security are homophobic, do not speak or communicate in English to the club's patrons, and use unprecedented indignation of force on customers without warning or discussion. My friend and I were dancing after a few drinks. We then kissed not thinking twice as we are in Bali and we were immediately thrown out by 6-8 large security guards. They rushed us out and took us to the parking garage and started gay bashing us. We did not fight back as there were 6-8 large men and just 2 of us but we managed to escape soiling our pants from all the blows. They laughed and mocked us and if we didn't escape we would have been beaten and robbed more. They stole my gold necklace by ripping it off. Not sure if it was intentional or not. My friend also lost a hat there. I had about 5 blows to the face and stomach. After a Facebook group outrage on their club's facebook webpage the management requested a meeting the next day. With people coming out similar mishandlings with the security and unnecessary beatings and lost articles. We met them in a third party public venue to discuss what exactly happened. They were quote honest and agreed their security guards are not trained on how to approach customers, they admitted beatings have happened before to women, men, gay or straight. They admitted that English training should be introduced to their staff and security team after this suggestion. They assured us that their staff and security were not homophobic and that they would look into it and get back to us the next day. They apologised to us on behalf of the way their security handled the situation and told us we are welcome back to the club anytime. We were never contacted again. It was just a big PR stunt. I'm sure nothing will change with their security team's unprofessional acts. If you are gay remember no PDA in a place like this pretend you are straight or better yet never spend your time or money here. Better to go to another club or bar that's more safe and accepting and tolerant of the diversity of people in our wonderful world of partying.
