Legian Japanese barbeque restaurant Yakinikuya Sakai is one of those places I had passed many times before I went in. From the outside it looks really interesting.

Situated on the busy intersection of Jalan Sunset and Jalan Nakula in Bali, it was a bit disappointing for me when I went there recently largely to get out of the peak hour Sunset traffic and to have lunch.

The menu looks really good, so I ordered a beef dish along with veggie selection including 5 different vegetables.

I was surprised when the food arrived along with a portable barbeque and I had to cook it myself. Mmmmm. Some people like that kind of thing, but I don’t, so was a bit annoyed straight away because it was a hot day and having a brazier on my table just made it hotter. Probably at night it is better.

The servings were small and while the beef was delicious, (Cooked very well I might say!!), the whole thing did not work for me, and I left feeling hungry, having had a snack when I wanted lunch.

I didn’t like the fact that the slices of pumpkin still had the skin on it and with no knife to cut it off, plus it took a long time to cook.

It is not so great to eat the skin of veggies that live on the ground have been sprayed with pesticides as it sits on the skin, and only brisk washing can get it off. This apples to all root vegies and potatoes and melons.

Legian Japanese barbeque restaurant Yakinikuya Sakai was a bit disappointing for me, I won’t go back.

It looks really good, but was a bit disappointed. I went there looking for a quick satisfying lunch, but it didn't do it for me. Knowing what you are after would make a difference. Try it anyway.
