Kerobokan French restaurant L’Assiette

L'Assiette garden

Kerobokan French restaurant L’Assiette

Kerobokan French restaurant L’Assiette is in Seminyak on Jalan Merthinadi No 29, the road that goes north of Sunset Road from Seminyak to the gaol. I have been there 3-4 times and have enjoyed the ambience of the beautiful French colonial-type building.

There is an antique furniture place next door owned by the same people so there are lots of very nice pieces in the restaurant which add to the ambience – light and airy with the rich colours and heaviness of antique Balinese furniture.

The first few times I found the French food a bit hit and miss, sometimes really nice and other times, well, not so nice. Mind you, it was not so bad I did not want to go back again.

My German friend, more experienced than I with French food, also felt the same, so it was not just some personal quirk of mine.

In 2014 I returned to discover that Kerobokan French restaurant L’Assiette had opened up a garden restaurant out the back, where there are perhaps 8 tables under their own gazebo. Very nice, beautiful.

They had a charcoal barbeque outside, which was dormant that night but you could see that sometimes it is busy.

That time we all ate from the Indonesian part of the menu, and were very happy with everything. Bit of a strange thing where a French restaurant messes up French food but does local food really well!!

Then again, considering the staff are local, they just know local food better.

In my top 100 Bali restaurants, one of the few Bali French restaurants I have been to more than once.

Situated on Jalan Mertinadi, the road from Sunset to the gaol, about 150 metres from there Jalan Sunset Burger King intersection.
