Kuta Lombok restaurant Krnk

Kuta Lombok restaurant Krnk street night

Kuta Lombok restaurant Krnk

Kuta Lombok restaurant Krnk is one of the more hip and stylish Kuta restaurants in Lombok providing a good quality dining experience in Kuta at a very reasonable price.

Oddly named,Krnk, (how does a newby pronounce Krnk? – Krank, Kronk, Krink?) according to owner manager Hicham, is meant to be pronounced as Krank, as in ‘krank it up’.

My friend and I came here one night on a recent visit to Kuta in Lombok and were impressed with the food and the ambience.

It was surprising to find such an industrial-style restaurant in this southern Lombok beach town – the walls are raw cement render, high ceilings – though I guess it is indicative of the remarkable transformation of what was only 3-4 years ago a very sleepy town.

The menu at Kuta restaurant Krnk is not large but is full of interesting dishes.

Here you will find delicious breakfasts, with eggs, sour dough, spice baked granola and a Mexican zapotek option as well.

Starters include Indonesian fishcakes and carpaccio (see the photos of these below) which were both excellent as was the ginger beer batter fish taco. They also have a shredded lamb taco and a Peking duck!

Mains at Lombok restaurant Krnk include a classic Pad Thai, an Angus beef burger, lamb curry and pan seared whitefish and an enticing range of pasta dishes.

You can eat here, excluding drinks, for around 80k or more if you want to try the lamb and beef dishes.

It is quite a young scene here – actually the general scene in Kuta in Lombok is around 25-35 like most surfie towns – and it is pretty hip. Good music with the staff a ‘work in progress’! The type of food and its presentation of owner, Dutch Hicham is a bit challenging for local staff to get their heads around.

Given it was only open for three months there are still some finishing touches happening.

I recommend having a dinner here when you visit Kuta. Like it seems with quite a few restaurants owned by Westerners in Kuta, they do not have a alcohol licence but can get beer from next door.
