Kerobokan restaurant Scratch

Kerobokan restaurant Scratch

Kerobokan restaurant Scratch is an unusual restaurant in the Jalan Mertisari Kerobokan area just past Warung Sobat 2 as it is a class above everything else in that area of Bali.

I say unusual because it’s catering to a whole different clientele than that other restaurants in that area. It is more a restaurant you would find in a Western city than in Bali, kinda like the Grocer and Grind chain of restaurants in Bali.

Stylishly done, elegant, modern, spacious, probably seating for around 40 (see photos at the bottom of this page) with an open kitchen so you can see the cleanliness of the food preparation or lack thereof.

By 2018 Kerobokan sports bar and grill Scratch had become a Bali sports bar in Kerobokan, with two larger TVs on the walls, fairly priced drinks.

And a big plus in my opinion, is that they supply free filtered water instead of using the ubiquitous Bali plastic bottles.

I had two refills which I appreciated from service, health and environmental perspectives.

Quite a good menu, not cheap, with grilled steaks (around 185k for larger one), some favourite Indonesian dishes like chicken satay, ribs, chicken curry and mie goreng, tapas, a long martini list, an assortment of pastas.

I wanted a simple dinner so I ordered the coconut chicken curry. This was nice, though a little bland for my taste, expecting as a I was a little more heat. It was a bit small tho, leaving me hungry.

Mmmm, what a delicious dessert it was too!

Not fond of being hungry after dinner! So I had to have dessert. (Poor me!)

The Japanese Cowboy with a fudge brownie, chocolate sauce, toasted nuts and vanilla home-made gelati (they had run out of green tea gelati which gives the dish its name, but vanilla was fine.), was delicious but at 66k a bit expensive.

One criticism I have is that is a bit too dark inside. For someone like me who needs glasses to read it is too dark to read the menu without a torch.

A quality Bali restaurant in Kerobokan, that must be good as it has survived over four years. In 2018 I noticed they now have a pool table outside in a gazebo that looks to be a good quality table and they are marketing themselves as a Bali sports bar.
