Going out in Central Ubud
Going out in central Ubud is a very different experience than in the coastal strip with few bars but mostly the night action revolved around Balinese dance performances.

There are some bars, like Bamboo, that have live music nightly and seems to be a fairly lively, party place whenever I have been in Ubud.
There is only one late night venue in Ubud and that is CP Lounge, which has an outdoor bar where a decent Bali band plays most nights. CP Lounge also has an after hours club where you can keep partying until the wee hours listening to quite good house or reggae tunes in psychedelic surrounds.
CP Lounge in Ubud also has a large undercover but still open air lounge area where there is a pool table and lots of comfy lounging. CP lounge Ubud is at the bottom of the sports field in the centre of Ubud.
Café Wayan also has a Balinese dance performance most nights, and they also run dance classes periodically as well.
Up at the Ubud Palace there are often quite big shows, depending on the phase of the moon and what ceremony is happening.
What also happens in Ubud are nightly film screenings. These happen at Blackbeach Italian restaurant on Jalan Hanoman where they might show women director’s or French films, and also at Earthcafe and Market which periodically has film festivals about social issues.
Café Havana is also lively, with live Latin music and salsa dancing most nights. People love playing with the salsa energy even if they cannot dance.
Both Bamboo and Cafe Havana are in Jalan Dewisita, which runs along the top of the sports field.
Betelnut Café on Jalan Raya Ubud is a large performance venue where there are often concerts happening with more recognised local and international artists. Betelnut Café also support local charities and hold events for awareness and fund raising.
I went there one night for a concert by Gyan (see photo above) raising funds for the local AIDS community.
Betelnut Cafe is a large venue, non smoking of course, like most Ubud venues.
Café Lotus has a dance show every night, with the restaurant surrounding a lotus pond the other side of which the dance happens.
